Things and Wonders | Anna Vasof
Media artist Anna Vasof presents her first solo show in Greece entitled, "Things and Wonders", opens on February 2, 2017 at CHEAPART. She combines a body of work developed over the past few years in Vienna, and work created within the CHEAPART gallery space.
"Things and Wonders" comprises a series of artworks that create a unique and sturdy kosmos, similar to the one we are familiar with, or bear in our memory. Ordinary, everyday objects are involved in irrational and dysfunctional situations and mechanisms, in completely odd and unexpected ways. Brooms, wipers, harmonicas, shoes, flags etc., are used in a way that is far removed from their ordinary designation. Vasof stages these absurd and impractical situations, in order to dispatch us from reality and allow us to see the world in a new perspective.
In "Things and Wonders" exhibition, Anna Vasof presents a series of installations, interactive objects, videos and kinetic sculpture, the majority of which is showcased in Greece for the first time.
